This project seeks to establish sustainable clean water infrastructure in rural communities. This initiative will alleviate the burden of water collection on women and girls, improve community health, and foster socio-economic development.
Many rural communities in South-Western Nigeria face a severe shortage of clean and safe water. With a population of over 12,000 residents, many communities depend on distant and unsafe water sources. Women and children are most affected, walking long distances daily to fetch water, exposing themselves to health and safety risks while losing valuable time for education and livelihoods. The absence of reliable water infrastructure also affects schools. affecting both students' health and learning
Impact on Women and Children Health: Significant reduction in waterborne diseases among children and women. Education: Girls will spend less time fetching water and more time in school, while schools will have direct access to safe water. Economic Empowerment: Women will have more time for productive and income-generating activities. Safety and Dignity: Reduced risks for women and girls who otherwise walk long distances to unsafe water points.
1. 12,000 residents will have reliable access to clean water 2. Improved health and reduced incidence of waterborne diseases. 3. Increased school attendance and improved learning environments for about 2500s tudents in public primary and secondary schools. 4. Enhanced socio-economic well-being of women and their families.
