Summary

Our children are not consuming water and are getting sick. Due to the distance of the area, lack of services, transportation, electricity, water, our children in Turgua, Miranda State, Venezuela, do not consume water. We need to install a water treatment plant, to be able to provide for our children and their families. Plan: Well, plant, distribution. You can help us, they are the future.

Challenge

Our children and their families live in a rural area, where there are no services, no water or electricity, no transportation. At Mano Amiga we give them water from our well, but it is not suitable for human consumption, therefore, they get kidney disease, parasites, etc. According to the sustainable development goal: Diseases related to with water and sanitation remain among the leading causes of death for children under 5 years old; further 800 children die every day for diarrheal diseases as

Solution

We need to install a water treatment plant, to be able to distribute water to the Turgua community and prevent them from getting sick. The project includes: Construction of a water well, water treatment plant and distribution. The provision of services adequate water and sanitation is essential to achieve the Development Goals sustainable, including related to health and gender equality.

Long-Term Impact

More than 2 million people die each year from diarrheal diseases throughout the world. Lack of hygiene and unsafe water are responsible for almost the 90% of these deaths, and affect mainly to children. The economic impact of not investing in water and sanitation would be fatal, millions of people will continue to die every year and it will continue to be lost biological diversity and resilience of ecosystems, undermining prosperity and efforts made for the future more sustainable.
