Bugwere sub region has a major problem of shortage of reliable, sufficient and clean source of water for human consumption and other use. There is a very big pressure on water resources at the villages due to the fact that the number of water resources does not match with the number of people at the villages which is ever increasing. For this particular project, we shall dig water wells in different villages to continue serving the community with clean water.
Access to safe and reliable drinking water remains a critical challenge in Kibuku. The community is relying on unprotected water sources such as shallow wells, seasonal streams, and surface runoff. During the dry season, most of these water sources dry up, forcing residents primarily women and children to walk distances of up to 4 kilometers daily to collect water from the available water sources. Without immediate intervention, the community will continue to face a lot of problems.
To solve the problem of inadequate water sources in the community of Kibuku, Humanity Aid Foundation has come up with a measure to drill more long water wells and repair the existing water wells to increase on the volume of water each day.
The potential long term impact for this project include: 1. Improved health as the community will have access to clean safe water 2. Economic Growth and Poverty reduction as this will save time spent on water and allows adults to engage in productive economic activities. 3. Environmental sustainability - this will be done with our proper water management systems put in place.
