In March 2015, Water For People-Honduras and our partners celebrated the 22nd annual World Water Day in all three municipalities where we work: Chinda, San Antonio de Cortés and El Negrito. World Water Day is a day to celebrate water; a day to make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues. In Chinda and San Antonio de Cortés, celebrations focused on building awareness related to proper use and care of water. Communities walked with banners and posters to show their support of World Water Day and school children carried pitchers of water to signify that water is a basic human right. In El Negrito, the community took to the streets to commemorate a march that took place last year to peacefully protest against the mining and exploitation of natural resources. In addition to World Water Day, the community of El Negrito will annually celebrate the preservation of natural resources with a March for Dignity and Social Consciousness.
