By MSD United Way Vietnam | A Water System Completed in Song Khua commune
OFFICIAL INAUGURATION OF TWO CLEAN WATER SUPPLY FACILITIES FOR RESIDENTS OF SUOI HOM AREA, TAU DAU VILLAGE, AND NHONG VEN RESETTLEMENT SITE, UN VILLAGE, SONG KHUA COMMUNE, VAN HO DISTRICT, SON LA PROVINCE.
In the past, Suoi Hom area and Nhong Ven resettlement site faced severe shortages of clean water. Residents had to collect water from small mountain streams using makeshift piping systems — insufficient for daily needs and posing serious health risks. Clean water, something so basic to many, was once a luxury for these communities.
Today, with the support and completion of two water supply systems, fresh and safe water now flows to every household — marking a new chapter in their lives. Families can now access clean water for cooking and daily use with peace of mind, contributing to better health and improved quality of life.
Upon completion, the water supply system has provided stable, direct access to clean water for 18 households with 63 people (33 of whom are women). More importantly, the system plays a key role in supplementing and sustaining the entire water supply network for Tau Dau village, ensuring that all 373 residents have sufficient access to clean water — especially during the dry season.
To ensure long-term and effective operation, the Tau Dau community group and the Song Khua Commune People's Committee jointly established a 5-member management and maintenance team. This team will be responsible for the regular upkeep and operation of the system, helping to ensure its durability and sustainability over time.
