Under the slogan "Warm To Be", the Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon launches the 2022/2023 winter campaign, with the aim of providing basic necessities to confront the winter cold and its dangers. Beneficiaries from the most vulnerable groups in Lebanon will benefit from necessities such as food, shelter, heating and other relief items.
According to the new policy brief "Multidimensional Poverty in Lebanon: Painful Reality and Uncertain Prospects", 82% of the population (including refugees) lives in multidimensional poverty. The economic crisis has led to hyperinflation, and an increase in prices of essential items by 800%, leaving many vulnerable communities defenseless against the coming winter.
URDA's annual winterization campaign is to provide Core Relief Items that include FI's (Food Items) and NFI's (Non-Food Items) from heaters to food parcels, heating fuel, plastic sheets, winter clothing, sleeping kits, shoes, and wool kits. In view of the difficult conditions experienced by the Lebanese citizens and the refugees in Lebanon, URDA is launching this campaign to keep people in need warm.
The project will reduce the suffering of families who live in abject poverty and prevent fatalities this winter by giving people the items they need to survive during this season.
