The Walk to Learn project supports children from underserved and rural communities by providing proper footwear and essential school supplies. Many children in these communities walk long distances to school barefoot or in worn-out shoes, making their journey uncomfortable and affecting their confidence.
Through this project, Shoes That Speak Africa Initiative has continued to identify children in need and provide them with sandals and other educational essentials. Since 2019, we have distributed over 1,200 sandals and reached hundreds of children through our outreach activities.
The project has made a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we serve. Receiving a new pair of sandals gives children greater comfort and confidence as they walk to school. It also reminds them that their education and future matter.
Our work is made possible through volunteers, community members, and supporters who help us identify beneficiaries and reach communities where the need is greatest. However, the demand remains high, and limited resources mean that many children are still waiting for support.
Moving forward, we hope to reach more children and expand the support provided through Walk to Learn to include school bags, books, uniforms, and other basic learning materials.
We are grateful to everyone who has supported this journey. Together, we are helping children walk to school with dignity, confidence, and hope.
“Live for today, hope for tomorrow.”
