January is generally known for its "Blues" but for us at Volunteers Foundation (VF) is always a month full of excitement and renewed energy.
Since our last update, a school year has concluded, and a new one has commenced.
In October, we marked the ending of the first full school year following several abbreviated ones due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Forty VF students wrapped up their primary education and progressed to secondary education. This important moment was celebrated in true VF spirit, featuring a morning of music, dance, and togetherness with Monica and some volunteers who were visiting at that time.
Even after departing from VFA, we remain dedicated to supporting these students on their educational paths. Our commitment extends to aiding with school fees, ensuring regular health check-ups, and involving them in our youth talks and mentoring programs, focused on nurturing their mental well-being and essential life skills. The eighteen VF Alumni stand as living proof that our collective efforts brings remarkable results, as our students pursue diverse professional objectives at institutions like Kenyatta University and other colleges.
As we welcome twenty new young "ducklings" to a new VF school year, there is a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement among all students, teachers, and parents alike. The school’s commitment to fostering a nurturing learning environment is reflected in the high expectations set for the upcoming academic year. With a dedicated team of educators, innovative teaching methods, and a focus on holistic development, the school anticipates academic excellence, personal growth, and character building for its students.
A diverse selection of extracurricular clubs has been established at VFA, allowing students to align their choices with their interests and passions. The options span across various domains, including drama, music ( run by our own alumn now University student), debating, agriculture and the library, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Engaging in extracurricular activities provides numerous benefits for students, even from a young age. These activities play a pivotal role in cultivating vital skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and self-confidence. Additionally, they serve as a valuable respite from academic pressures, offering students a chance to relax and find enjoyment. This pursuit of extracurricular interests not only contributes to skill development but also brings a profound sense of fulfilment and joy to students's lives.
As the VF building undergoes construction, all the specified activities occur in small, confined classes. By August this year, all classes and students will relocate to the new, multi-functional development.
Your generous support, whether for infrastructure or educational programs, has not just provided access to education but has also kindled a beacon of hope and opportunity for the students in our schooling program.
Thank you for being the catalysts of change and partners in shaping brighter futures.
The VF Team and Students
