Vocational Training for 400 Youth in Sokoto

By Francis Osisiogu | Project Leader

The Vocational Training for 400 Youth in Sokoto project is currently in its early development and fundraising stage. At this time, no financial support or donations have yet been received toward the project’s $10,000 funding goal. Despite this challenge, preliminary planning and stakeholder engagement activities have continued in preparation for future implementation once funding becomes available.

Efforts have focused on community outreach, identifying potential training locations, engaging vocational instructors, and developing a structured implementation plan for the proposed training programs in tailoring, welding, solar technology, and other income-generating skills. Administrative planning has also been carried out to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective use of resources once the project receives support.

The lack of funding has delayed the commencement of beneficiary training, procurement of vocational tools, and acquisition of startup kits intended to help participants establish independent businesses after graduation. However, interest within the community remains strong, with many vulnerable youth expressing willingness to participate once the program begins.

The project team remains committed to the vision of empowering 400 young people in Sokoto with practical skills and economic opportunities that can transform their lives and strengthen their communities. Continued awareness campaigns and fundraising efforts are ongoing to attract donors and partners who share the goal of reducing unemployment, poverty, and social vulnerability among youth in the region.
