From March through June 2022, the KEX Kids Fund helped 212 children with comprehensive vision exams and new eyeglasses for families in need. During this school year, the KEX Kids Fund helped support the cost of 102 new eyeglasses for youth.

During the past few months, we have received more requests for help with vision care. The number of requests are increasing each month as schools return to in person instruction and school nurses are able to refer more students.

Your support is crucial now more than ever in sustaining our program to help children access vision care.

School nurses work closely with the school vision screening program led by the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) to ensure that children who are referred for vision care receive resources such as the KEX Kids Fund.

Recently we helped an 8 year old girl who was diagonsed with amblyopia. Through treatment, her eye will strengthen, preventing any permanent vision loss. The KEX Kids Funds provided important assistance for this girl's family who couldn't afford the cost of the vision treatment.

From July 1, 2021 through September 2021, the KEX Kids Fund helped 31 children with comprehensive vision exams and provided 32 vouchers for new eyeglasses for families in need.

Because of covid and schools not completely reopened, there had been a decline of requests. During the past few months, we started to receive more requests for help with vision care. The number of requests are increasing this fall as schools return to in person instruction and school nurses are able to refer more students.
