It's been an extremely busy summer and fall for Village Earth and we're excited about all the great initiatives we're working on. Along with our ongoing suport of 15 different global affiliated organizations, most significantly, we've been engaged in a largescale advocacy project focused on making agriculture data on American Indian Reservations available to tribes nationwide. This data will include detailed maps of prime farmlands on American Indian lands as well as 2017 and 2018 crop covers. We are also working on a data portal to make the 2012 and 2017 ag census more user friendly for tribes.
This summer we worked on a project to map oil pipelines in the midwest for a larg-scale project to engage the public in monitoring oil and gas sites for possible leaks. This would should be made public sometime this fall so check our blog regularly for updates. We also hosted a Community Mobilization Workshop for conservation NGOs from Mongolia.
In the spring we facilitated a GIS workshop with the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies (CAIRNS) based on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
In the coming months we we will be primarily focused on assisting our global affiliates in fundraising and working on the Indian lands agricluture data project discussed earlier.
