This past quarter was productive for the Veterans Assistance Fund. We were able to help an Elderly Veteran with cancer (92) get his lawn mowed monthly for the past 4 months because he was unable to do so himself and that stopped code enforcement from fining him for the overgrown lawn. This may not seem like a big thing but that totaled $320.
We helped another Elderly Veteran buy food and pay his past due electric bill which was a challenge for him because his wife had passed away and his income was reduced by over $1,000. We are also meeting with him monthly to insure now because he is on a limited income that he stays on track with his expenses,
The third Veteran we helped was with a deposit to move into a new apartment, our local county only helps with deposits once in a lifetime so he would have been homeless without this help,
For those of us who are able to pay for things without any help we forget how the smallest expenses can cause havock in the life of a Veteran. All of the donations that we receive for this fund go to help Veterans that have given their all for their country to try and regain some sense of normalcy so thank you for your donations they do make a difference!
