Since launching in July 2025, the Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund has served as an urgent, community-centered response to families facing critical humanitarian needs across Ventura County. Through this fund, Ventura County Community Foundation has partnered with trusted nonprofit organizations to deliver immediate, flexible assistance—helping neighbors access food, stabilize housing, secure transportation, and meet basic necessities during moments of crisis.
One of those partners, James Storehouse, shared how this support is translating into tangible impact for children and families. “Because of the compassion and generosity of Ventura County, children and youth experiencing foster care—and those identified as at risk—are experiencing hope in tangible ways,” they shared. Through this partnership, James Storehouse has been able to provide nourishing food in an area of Oxnard identified as a food desert, meeting critical needs while strengthening families and supporting prevention efforts that help children remain safely in their homes. The fund has also enabled rapid responses to urgent requests for cribs, beds, and car seats, allowing children entering foster care to be placed quickly into safe and loving homes—turning moments of uncertainty into moments of protection and care.
Since its launch, the Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund has distributed grants to more than 30 nonprofit partners working throughout the region. These organizations provide a wide range of direct services, including food assistance, housing support, health care, youth and family stabilization, workforce support, and emergency relief. Together, they ensure that assistance reaches families quickly and with dignity, through organizations deeply rooted in the communities they serve.
While the fund focuses on meeting immediate needs, it also reflects a broader commitment to community stability and care. Each grant awarded through the Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund helps preserve family well-being, support children, and reinforce the local nonprofit network during a time of profound uncertainty. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making this collective response possible and for standing with Ventura County neighbors when it matters most.
