Empowering 300 children in Chile

2014 has started off with a bang! We wrapped our ¡Vamos a leer! program and to celebrate the successful reading efforts of the kids at the end of summer, we had our traditional day of Carnaval games and time at the pool. The volunteers prepared a series of games and group activities in the morning, and after a healthy lunch, the kids spent the afternoon poolside with the volunteers. Everyone left happy with a gift bag, filled not only with sweets and toys, but a brand new personal book for each child, with a personal message from their very own VE volunteers. 

We ended March with our monthly Liga de Deportes and brought the kids to a gym to get them moving a bit. This month's sport was basketball, so one of our volunteers led a workshop with various drills and activities. We ended the afternoon with soccer of course, but first had a healthy snack to get re-energized. 

The volunteers and kids worked hard during the past few months to get their best pieces of art ready for Festival de Arte, and it went great! Not only were there beautiful drawings and 3D artwork on display, but many of the kids performed songs or dances for the group. We had volunteers from one of our main corporate partners, American Tower, come to be our judges. They were positively overwhelmed with such talent by the kids, but eventually picked winners from each category, and those children were sent home smiling with brand new art supplies!

2013 was a good year for VE Global. We made a very positive impact in the lives of hundreds of children to whom we serve, bringing new and improved activities, educational materials, art supplies, sport events, English workshops and reading initiatives. 

We appeared in a national TV station that showed the hard work VE Global does to help foster the development of children at social risk. We also signed new collaboration agreements with new partners that will help us improve our educational programs even more, among other important events.

As we move forward into 2014, we face new exciting opportunities as well as new challenges. Because 2013 was a very positive year for us, we now have the pressure to perform even better during this year.

Luckily we began this new period on the right track. We just received a new group of 9 international volunteers that arrived to Chile to join VE Global's community. In addition to that, we recently partnered with a new children's home that will allow us to expand our network of support. 

There are still many challenges ahead however VE Global is feeling strong and optimistic for the new year to come. We are sure that with our daily efforts we are making a big difference in improving the most important area of Chilean society, its children.
