VE Global aims to foster the positive development of children at social risk within the Chilean protection system (SENAME) in Santiago. With its international volunteer and life-skill program VE helps the children develop basic life-skills that will help them create a more positive outlook on their futures.
SENAME is the child protection system in Chile. This government organization should assure the protection of the rights of those children entering the system. However, in some cases their living conditions do not improve or get worse. VE Global fosters the socioemotional development of the children living in this system so that they can gain opportunities and learn basic-life skills, creating a more positive outlook on their futures.
VE Global supports its children through a volunteer and a life skills program, that work with 17 social service organisations. The volunteer program aims to provide children with workshops and activities related to art, reading, English and healthy living. The volunteers serve as positive role models for the children and assure that they grow up in a safer environment. The life skills program is focused on increasing self-esteem and teaching basic-life skills to young adults to enter society.
With an average on-the-ground presence of 20 full-time volunteers and three dedicated staff members, VE provides more than 30,000 hours of volunteer support each year and serves more than 300 children annual. Through this work, VE strives to contribute to a brighter future both for the children it serves and the volunteers that work with them, a goal achieved by training volunteers to become educators and role models that serve children both now and into the future.
