At any given time there are millions of men and women who have returned from serving in the military during wartime. Both here in the United States and across the globe they have all faced the trauma of war. Many carry both visible and invisible wounds. Those with PTSD face tremendous challenges -- unemployment, poverty and homelessness. Help 3 Generations tell the stories of both soldiers and veterans, help us raise awareness of the mental and emotional crises they face. Hear their stories.
Soldiers at war and returning veterans face huge challenges. They must deal with invisible wounds as well as their physical ones. Once they return home they must reintegrate to civilian life and find jobs which can be difficult. Most Americans are unaware of the prolonged struggle of our returning troops -- the war of reintegration. 3 Generations' project focuses on PTSD and the trauma of war for soldiers and veterans as one of the leading hardships confronting them.
To check this growing sense of social isolation and hopelessness, soldiers and veterans need a forum to share their stories where they know they'll be heard and understood -- a community where both the storyteller and the listener can begin to heal. Through the personal stories of soldiers and veterans we will bring the issues of PTSD and mental trauma to light and examine ways to address them.
We record the experiences of soldiers and veterans for posterity. Providing avenues to share stories honors those who have defended our nation, fosters the healing process for those who are struggling, and inspires all of us to support our soldiers and returning veterans now and always.
