Bhagavatula Charitable Trust (BCT) provides a three part curriculum for rural and tribal children of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh and enabling them to pursue technical higher education. With the best of the teaching and learning methodologies, these children are able to gain knowledge much better than their peers around while becoming leaders in their villages, creating a better future for everyone around. This project aims at increasing the number of children to be educated.
Given that the children's parents being small and marginal farmers, it is well-nigh impossible for the parents to support their children's education in this high school. Even though some of the parents are meeting marginal costs but many of them are not able to support their education at this high school and hence need funding.
BCT has been working towards providing education at the door step of the villages since 1984. Over these years, more than 200,000 people (children and adults) have been made literate. With aim of providing "Value based, skills oriented, rurally biased self-reliant quality Education," BCT started a residential high school in 1995 and also facilitate the young village children to grow to be responsible citizens working towards the development of their own villages.
56.12% of alumni are pursuing technical education/job 8.77% are self-employed 82.87% of the alumni continue to stay in the village eking a livelihood while being leaders for development is a testament of the efficacy of the high school.
