The juicing program remains a significant goal for FORUDEF, and is continuing to grow incrementally. FORUDEF continues to work within communities, specifically with women’s groups, to raise their nutritional awareness. A significant component of this is the role of fruit in providing essential vitamins and minerals. As a result, the women’s groups have been, in general, receptive and motivated to pursue the juicing program. Their interest in both generating income and boosting the health of their families has added to FORUDEF’s mission to complete this project.
Currently, funding has restricted FORUDEF’s ability to purchase professional grade fruit processors that will produce juice on a larger scale. Until this is possible, the progress of this project remains at the level of educating and garnering local interest and support. However, we are hoping to have a juicer of this size and ability purchased within the year, and look forward to generating income while also building healthy communities through juice production.
