During Tourism Week in Uruguay, Claves carried out the fourth edition of the Uruguay against child sexual exploitation in the city of Paysandú, supported by the city government, the Ministry of Tourism, INAU and diverse non-profit organizations.
The campaign places youth at the center of the process, recognizing their abilities, which has positive repercussions in their self-esteem. Youth share their ideas and opinions in a safe environment where they can express their feelings and the problems they experience. Youth learn about the issue of child sexual exploitation, responsible tourism, and human trafficking. They also different techniques to raise awareness in their local context.
Throughout Tourism Week, over 3,000 tourists and community members received information about this issue. Youth carried out different activities in the hot springs, Semana de la Cerveza Festival, bus terminal, and the shopping mall. They used techniques such as Flash Mob, dance and painted faces to draw attention and then speak with the public about the campaign.
