This report is an update on our emergency food security initiative meant to support 60 vulnerable families at Tikondane Community Centre in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
With insufficient local harvests and rising market prices threatening severe hunger during the critical lean season (November through April), timely intervention is essential to safeguard the health and well-being of the 60 families and their children.
Current Status
This project is targeting 60 families, prioritizing households with vulnerable children. Funds raised to date are $100. With this amount, we started purchasing maize which will be processed into maize meal to combat hunger likely to fall on these families during the critical lean season.
Action Plan & Next Steps
-Needs Assessment & Beneficiary Selection: Finalizing the prioritization criteria to ensure support reaches the 60 most at risk families before the peak of the lean season.
-Resource Allocation: Evaluating bulk purchasing options locally in Katete to maximize the impact of incoming donations towards the staple food.
-Fundraising Expansion: We are actively seeking additional contributions to bridge the gap between our current funds and resources required to fully provide for all 60 families through April.
