Dear Donor,
Thank you for supporting Development Alert’s efforts to make safe hygiene practices more accessible to communities.
Handwashing remains an important part of infection prevention. During an Ebola outbreak, communities need reliable information and practical opportunities to maintain hygiene at home, in schools, at public gathering points, and in other shared spaces.
With confirmed cases in the DRC and a confirmed imported case in Nigeria, the regional situation reinforces the importance of sustained prevention. The ECDC reported 10,532 confirmed cases and 5,126 related deaths in the DRC as of its 3 November update. Nigeria’s 3 November situation report recorded one confirmed case and 62 contacts under follow-up.
Development Alert has supported community hygiene promotion, including handwashing awareness and the provision of handwashing facilities in community settings, schools, and boda boda stages. These efforts help make prevention more practical and visible in everyday life.
We continue to encourage regular handwashing, responsible hygiene, and the use of reliable public health information. These measures should complement—not replace—guidance from trained health professionals.
Your contribution helps bring essential prevention practices closer to households and public spaces. Thank you for investing in healthier, better-prepared communities.
