Dear Donor,
Thank you for standing with Development Alert as communities across the region face renewed challenges from Ebola. The latest developments highlight why continued awareness, prevention, and community preparedness remain essential.
As of 20 October 2026, Kenya has confirmed nine cases of Ebola, all linked to the country’s first identified case. The latest patient, a close family member of the initial patient, had already been placed in quarantine before testing positive. Authorities report that 134 of 135 identified contacts have been traced and placed under quarantine, with no evidence of transmission beyond the identified cluster so far.
These developments demonstrate the importance of identifying contacts quickly, following public health guidance, and ensuring that people under monitoring receive clear information and practical support. Community members also need reliable information on symptoms, prevention, and when to seek medical attention from qualified health workers.
With your support, Development Alert is committed to promoting community awareness, encouraging safe hygiene practices, and supporting locally led preparedness efforts. We recognize that trust is vital: people are more likely to follow guidance when information is clear, respectful, and accessible.
Your generosity helps strengthen the community-level efforts that complement the work of health authorities. Thank you for helping us keep prevention, preparedness, and the protection of vulnerable people at the centre of our response.
