Dear Donor,
Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert remains committed to strengthening community-led Ebola preparedness and prevention during this challenging public-health emergency.
The situation has become increasingly concerning. On 13 October 2026, reports citing the Democratic Republic of the Congo's public-health authorities indicated that the country had recorded 9,066 confirmed Bundibugyo virus disease cases and 4,381 deaths. Kenya has also confirmed its first imported case after a Kenyan citizen who had been living in the DRC travelled through Uganda to Nairobi and subsequently died.
These developments remind us that Ebola preparedness must extend beyond treatment facilities to the communities where people live, work, travel, and care for their families.
Our community-centered priorities include raising awareness, promoting hand hygiene, encouraging early reporting of suspected illness, supporting vulnerable households, and strengthening cooperation with trained health authorities.
We also recognize the importance of reaching border communities and people who may have limited access to reliable health information.
Your support is helping strengthen the community awareness and practical preparedness needed during a regional health emergency.
Thank you for standing with Development Alert as we work toward safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.
