Dear Donor,
Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert has continued strengthening community awareness and preparedness following Uganda’s 2026 Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak.
Uganda officially ended its Ebola outbreak on 27 August after completing the required 42-day period without a new confirmed case. The country recorded 20 confirmed cases during the outbreak, and the last patient was discharged from care on 16 July. This achievement is a major public health milestone, but it does not mean preparedness can stop.
The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo demonstrates why communities near cross-border movement routes must remain alert. Development Alert's community-focused approach emphasizes awareness, hygiene, early reporting, preparedness, and practical prevention measures.
These activities can help communities understand warning signs and respond appropriately if new health threats emerge. Your support is helping us protect the progress Uganda has made while strengthening preparedness for future emergencies.
Thank you for standing with communities during this critical period. Uganda's Ebola-free status is worth protecting, and continued community vigilance remains an important part of that achievement.
