Reaching the unreached, keeps the children at its core. The concept believes that equitable and sustainable development of the family and community will percolate to the development of the child, the best way to end child poverty and child labour is the development of the communities as well as the development of the children. Women and children, who represent more than two third of the state's total population, constitute the most important target groups in the present day developmental plan.
The scenario is worse in the villages of Kadiri Mandal in Ananthapuram district, AP. The area is concentrated by backward class communities and vulnerable families and added with migration. People are deprived of basic amenities; women of these communities are always at the receiving end by becoming the victim of exploitation. The area is almost women headed. Illiteracy among the parents and insecure livelihoods forced them to engage their underage children as child labours.
The organisation believes in "The Livelihoods Pentagon" where the Human Capital, Physical Capital, Financial Capital, Social Capital, Natural Capital are assured and set in place to achieve the sustainable development. The issue of school dropouts, child labour and reduction in migration would be addressed through a Three fold Approach with women and children being the focal point. The proposed project is to bring down child labour and increase the number of children going to school.
2000 women will be engaged in one or the other Income Generating Activities or will be beneficiaries of social security schemes. 60% decrease in child labour against baseline data to be collected. School dropout rate will be reduced by 40% against baseline data to be collected. Increased community participations in general and women in specific in the decision making processes. 2000 targeted women will have an increased family income by 50% against what they are earning.
