Dear friends, donors, and interested people,
We've recently had many proffessional volunteers and interns join the Action Change team, which helps to reduce operational costs but this fund is still absolutely vital for providing us with a safety net.
Now our situation is beginning to stabilise we have been able to embark on some new projects!
First of all is "Africa's First Living Seawall". This is a marine biodiversity project in the V&A waterfront, Cape Town, which will involve 3D printed panels being fitted to the flat concrete harbour wall which create artificial rockpools, encouraging marine life and boosting biodiversity by up to 300%! We have already had succesful living seawall projects in Syndey and Plymouth but we're so excited to introduce this technology to South Africa. Sponsors of this project also contribute to follow-up ecological research, helping us to track the measurable impact of the seawalls.
Secondly, we are working with a community member at a rasta camp on the outskirts of Cape Town to build a community farm. This project has huge potential because the core model is intertwined with principles of sustainability. It will sell locally-grown organic crops to small businesses and generate revenue which can be used to both employ and train residents to work on the farm, expanding it, generating more revenue for training more locals and creating a ripple effect which will uplift and empower the community.
Thank you for standing with us through challenging times
