UNIKO: rehab for war-affected children

Every day at UNIKO, we meet children whose childhood has been changed by war. Many of them arrive anxious, withdrawn, overwhelmed by stress, loud sounds, displacement, or emotional trauma. Some children have disabilities or developmental difficulties that became even more challenging because of the war in Ukraine.

Thanks to the support of GlobalGiving donors, we continue creating a safe and inclusive space where children can receive rehabilitation, emotional support, and care. During this period, our multidisciplinary team provided psychological support, speech therapy, sensory integration, art therapy, and developmental sessions for children affected by war.

One of the most meaningful parts of our work is watching children slowly regain trust, confidence, communication skills, and emotional stability. Through creativity, movement, play, and therapeutic interaction, children begin smiling again, interacting with others, and feeling safe.

We also support parents who are experiencing exhaustion, fear, and emotional burnout while caring for their children during wartime. Many families tell us that UNIKO has become not only a rehabilitation center, but also a place of hope, understanding, and community.

Despite constant challenges, uncertainty, and stress in Ukraine, our team continues working every day because these children need stable support now more than ever.
