The Heart of Our Mission: A Story of Equity
In the state of Yucatán, indigenous students face stark educational inequality; it is estimated that only 35% of these students manage to complete elementary school. Language barriers often worsen this issue, as most educational resources are only available in Spanish, leaving Maya-speaking children behind. Our project provides an inclusive pathway for these children to thrive without losing their cultural heritage, bridging traditional knowledge with essential 21st-century skills.
Historic Progress: Expanding from 2 to 4 Schools
We are thrilled to share that, thanks to a powerful network of allies, we have doubled our impact since our last update. Today, we have 4 fully equipped public primary schools in the state of Yucatán. This achievement was made possible not only through the generosity of our GlobalGiving community but also through strategic partnerships with Fundación BANORTE and DELL Technologies, who have joined us in championing digital transformation for rural communities.
Impact Achieved to Date:
- 4 schools with active technological infrastructure.
- 1,299 students benefited with new digital learning opportunities.
- 50 teachers supported through our Integral Model, receiving pedagogical and technical mentoring to integrate technology into the classroom.
The UNETE Model: More Than Just Hardware
Our methodology, the Program of School Strengthening (PFE), ensures that every computer serves a pedagogical purpose. Teachers are currently developing digital skills and preparing for Google for Education certifications, giving them the confidence to implement innovative teaching methods. By empowering the teacher, we create a lasting legacy that will resonate across generations in these Maya communities.

Despite this significant progress, our work is far from over. This project remains active, and we are determined to bring this opportunity to more schools still waiting in the digital dark.
