We’re excited to provide an update on our Bridging the Education Gap with Technology in Maya Communities project, which continues to work toward improving digital equity in these underserved areas. While we still have more to accomplish, we’re pleased to share some key developments:
1. Funding and Teacher Mentoring ProgramSo far, we’ve successfully fundraised
$848 USD for this initiative. While this is only a portion of our goal, these funds will directly support our
Teacher Mentoring Program, which is a key part of our integral model. Specifically, this amount will be used to cover the
Google for Education certificates for teachers in a selected Maya community school, which we will confirm once we reach 75% of our total funding goal.
Through the Teacher Mentoring Program, UNETE prepares educators for the
Google for Education certificate, ensuring that they complete the school year with newly honed digital skills. This equips them to better leverage technology for teaching and learning within media classrooms. Our mentorship model focuses on fostering confidence and capability in digital tools, which are vital for modern, sustainable, educational practices.
Furthermore,
UNETE is the second-largest partner with Google for Education in Mexico. Our long-standing collaboration has enabled us to drive digital skill development and certification for over 896 teachers across Mexico. We remain committed to this mission and will continue to promote the preparation and certification of digital skills via Google for Education.
2. Commitment to Digital Equity in Maya CommunitiesUNETE remains fully committed to bridging the digital divide in public education in Mexico, especially in Maya communities in Yucatán and surrounding states. In line with this, we have submitted additional funding proposals to foundations and corporate donors to secure further resources for this cause. If anyone is interested in learning more about the potential partners we are engaging with, please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information.
3. Ongoing Efforts and Future PlansThis project will remain active, and we hope to spread the word to gain more supporters. As part of our upcoming activities. We’re eager to use this platform to reach new donors and raise awareness about the importance of education and digital equity in these underserved regions. We hope to expand our supporter base and secure recurring donors for sustained impact.
Looking AheadWe look forward to sharing more updates on the progress of the Teacher Mentoring Program and the overall impact we’re making in Mexico’s public schools.
