Education for Children in Mexican border schools!

Thanks to a new alliance we secured outside of GlobalGiving, we are excited to share that we have already equipped three media classrooms in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. This was made possible through a combination of opportunities: community support, local “convocatorias,” partnerships, and donations. Every piece of support — including yours through GlobalGiving — is what makes progress like this possible.

Two of these classrooms are in the schools of real-life teachers Sergio and Laura (the couple whose story inspired the movie Radical), and the third is at another nearby school in the same community. Together, these classrooms will benefit around 1,500 students and 50 teachers.

The classrooms are not only equipped with technology, but also connected to the internet and loaded with UNETECA, our digital library designed for students and teachers. Just as importantly, our Facilitadores (teacher trainers) are currently in training themselves this week so they can begin supporting each school with mentoring, technical assistance, and workshops starting this month. This ensures that teachers have the confidence and skills to integrate technology effectively in their classrooms.

This milestone is a big step forward — but it is not the end. We will continue raising funds and reporting on this project because every new donation can make one more school possible. The impact we have achieved so far was only possible thanks to a network of donors, allies, and opportunities coming together.
