Un-Prisonment - Releasing the Wrongfully Convicted

To our fellow donors,

Following our successful fundraising campaign with Global Giving, the total sum of $7312.36 (CAND) was sent to CART's bank account on October 27, 2015.

Thanks to our donors' generous contributions, CART was able to hire a new team of professional investigators to work on one of our top priority case, opening the door to a now probable revision of the case in question.

Since our last report on november 30, 2015, we have spent an additionnal $1525 (CAND) to pay for half of the fees in the hiring of the investigators' team, and $448 (CAND) for the payment of plane tickets, food and lodging to the investigators during their recent visit to one victim. Other visits at similar cost are planned to happen by June of 2016, as well as the payment of the other half of the fees ($1525).

The cost of a round-trip plane ticket (approx. $1600 (CAND)) is also considered in the use of the money raised.

For security reasons and for the sake of our defense work, CART will not provide public details concerning the identity of victims still under custody or in prison, nor specifics on type of action currently in the works, for doing so would have negative consequences. However, we wish to assure our donors and followers that their contributions are being used carefully, consciously and meticulously, reassuring you have helped significantly impact the lives of those who have been wrongfully detained and convicted, as well as their families.

We are happy to announce our followers and donors the recent release of three falsely-accused people on whose cases CART has been working for years, in partnership with ONGs in México. Two of the newly-fred people in question had suffered heavy torture sessions when illegally detained ; all three of them had undergone recurrent disinformation campaigns in the local and national medias in violation of the fundamental right to be presumed innocent.

Following our successful fundraising campaign with Global Giving, the total sum of $7312.36 (CAND) was sent to CART's bank account on October 27, 2015.

Thanks to our donors' generous contributions, CART was able to hire a new lawyer to work on one of our major cases. From the amount of donations received, $382 (CAND) has been used so far, to the payment of plane tickets, food and lodging to the lawyer in question during his first visit to one victim, currently serving a life sentence while being completely innocent. Other visits at similar cost are already planned before June of 2016.

Another $2100 (CAND) will be allocated in the upcoming weeks (by mid-December) in order to contract professional investigators in charge of gathering new elements of proof in another case.

The cost of a round-trip plane ticket (approx. $1600 (CAND)) is already considered in the use of the money raised.

According to our estimates, $4105 (CAND) will have been used by January, 2015, which accounts for 56 % of funds raised.
