Un-Prisonment - Releasing the Wrongfully Convicted

To our fellow donors,

Following our successful fundraising campaign with Global Giving, the total sum of $7312.36 (CAND) was sent to CART's bank account on October 27, 2015.

Thanks to our donors' generous contributions, CART was able to hire a new team of professional investigators to work on one of our top priority case, opening the door to a now probable revision of the case in question.

Since our last report on March 21, 2015, we have spent an additional $613 (CAND) to pay for plane tickets to Colombia and back, in order to allow one of our volunteers to further investigate on the Colombian cases that we are currently working on. New developments are expected in one of our major cases, which explicitly required the presence of our representative in this country. This travel will also give us the opportunity to visit most of the victims, who are currently serving jail sentences for crimes that they did not commit. Possibly, other travel expenses from one Colombian city to another will be added in our next Global Giving report.

In addition to the latter, an approximate amount of $645 (CAND) will soon be payed to our investigator, for another 1.500.000 Colombian pesos has been spent in plane tickets, food and lodging expenses.

The cost of a round-trip plane ticket (approx. $900 (CAND)) is also considered in the use of the money raised in the upcoming months.

For security reasons, and for the sake of our defense work, CART does not provide the public with details concerning (1) travel destinations and dates, (2) the identity of our volunteers travelling abroad, (3) the identity of victims still under custody or in prison, (4) nor specifics on type of action currently in the works, for doing so would have strong negative consequences on the defense work. However, we wish to assure our donors and followers that their contributions are being used carefully, consciously and meticulously, reassuring you have significantly helped impact the lives of those who have been wrongfully detained and convicted, as well as their families.

A copy of our 2015 activity report, soon to be published, will be sent to our active and supporting members by the beginning of July, where more details will be provided.
