Through Un Batey Más Verde, Yspaniola continues to connect environmental education in the classroom with action in the community. By involving students, families, and staff, we are encouraging everyone to take an active role in caring for Batey Libertad.
Last month, students and Yspaniola staff participated in our monthly community cleanup. Working side by side, they collected litter from shared spaces and put environmental lessons into practice. The activity provided an opportunity for students to contribute directly to their community and experience the value of working together toward a common goal.
In the classroom, environmental education remains an ongoing priority. We continue helping students understand how everyday habits, including disposing of waste responsibly and caring for their surroundings, contribute to a cleaner community. Connecting these lessons with practical activities gives children opportunities to apply what they learn beyond the classroom.
Families are also an important part of this effort. Their involvement helps connect learning at Yspaniola with habits at home, reinforcing the message that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility. Together, students, families, and staff can help make these practices part of daily community life.
As the school year continues, we remain committed to combining classroom learning with our monthly cleanups and opportunities for community participation. Our goal is to help children develop the knowledge, habits, and confidence to care for the place they call home.
