Positive Engagement

By Marilyn James | Project Leader

Our Survivors Recovery Camps initially focused on addressing the needs of orphans, children of servicemen, and refugees, displaced during the invasion. Efforts were placed on helping survivors feel a sense of stability amidst the ongoing attacks and displacements serving 50 participants per camp.

Now, we have some good news.  Over the past two quarters, we have expanded our Recovery Camp initiative to serve up to 100 participants and now provide psycho-emotional support not only to children and mothers affected by the war, but also to families raising children with disabilities. The program has been developed by psychologists and play practitioners, tailored to the specific needs of these families. After the first camps, we received incredibly warm and encouraging feedback. We also saw positive outcomes from the support provided where children have become more responsive, are able to participate in activities, and  socialize with others; while mothers get time to relax, and join in fun activities.

The demand for psycho-emotional, survivors programs is very high as there are very few opportunities like this in Ukraine, while the number of families in need is growing. Over the  next few months we plan to organize at least 10 such camps.

Please help us achieve our goal and be able to help more participants.  We are currently serving the city of Lviv and surrounding counties, and reach up to 100 participants per day camp. Your support is greatly appreciated.
