Udayan is a Sanskrit word that means “Eternal Sunshine”. Udayan Care is an Indian Non-Profit Organization (Public Charitable Trust) with special consultative status to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. Registered in 1994 as a Public Charitable Trust, Udayan Care works to empower vulnerable children, women, and youth, in 34 cities across 15 states of India. Evolving from the creation of just one small family home (Ghar) for children without parental care in Delhi in 1996, there are now four established verticals, with unique Program strategies, aimed at supporting disadvantaged groups all across India:
Through the power of mentorship, we nurture children; in need of care & protection, abandoned and at risk, in the warmth of a simulated family environment at 16 Udayan Ghars, our long-term group homes. We enable girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to receive higher education, personalized mentoring, and employability through our Udayan Shalini Fellowship Program.
Furthermore, we empower our under-served educated youth to further enhance their chances of employment by providing employable job-oriented courses in digital learning and other vocations at our Information Technology and Skill Centres across Delhi and NCR.
We, needless to say, are totally committed to the rights of the child and vehemently advocate, in letter and spirit; to do further research and provide training to improve Standards of Care in Alternative Care for at-risk children, in alignment with the Indian Constitution, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and the Sustainable Developmental Goals.
Udayan Shalini Fellowship (Education)
Udayan Shalini Fellowship program (USF) of Udayan Care is a unique academic excellence and personality development program for deserving and talented girls from weak socio-economic backgrounds aiming to turn them into empowered and dignified women or Shalinis. It is unique because it goes beyond being a usual scholarship program by not only supporting higher education but also providing regular mentoring and leadership development and inculcating a sense of social responsibility in them.

They will be taking the information further and spreading awareness among their circle.
The program encouraged to have an on-ground experience in the corporate fields for the Shalinis so that they can develop a first-hand understanding of the particular field. Such visits were organized for the Shalinis to various corporates, industries, and institutes.
New mentors are approached and a new set of Shalinis will be joining in. Many alumnae from different chapters have shown interest in becoming mentor didis. All Mentor Didis and Corporate Mentors are being trained & oriented to the USF Mentoring program. These workshops and mentoring sessions have helped Shalinis to be focused and ensure their mental well-being.
We will also take this opportunity to thank all our donors and partners for always being the pillar of support for our Shalinis and extending all the help required. We also hope that they continue their support so that we continue working for the betterment of girls’ education and expand our reach to induct more girl students in 2022-23.
