Our Turning the Tide cutting edge program of early childhood education based on scientific evidence of early brain development.is exciting. We use the research on how poverty affects the brain/body of children and are addressing that issue with parents and educators. A critical element of our program is parental empowerment and involvement. Our digital divide program with our learning software is a precedent for a new possibility, for childrren. We trained over 500 youth in non protfit work!
Recent scientific studies of the impact of poverty on the development has now thoroughly distinguished that poverty has a profound and pervasive impact on the body/brain development of children. They start school with significant neurological deficits, a 75% vocabulary deficit,a lack of counting skills,a deficit of exposure to the world and usually no computer in their home. Things that you and I consider normal development opportunities are lacking for most of these kids.
We have distributed over 12,500 low cost refurbished computers to families schools and organizations. More than 60,000 children have benefited . Turning the Tide project will solve the problem by teaching children to learn. in an alternative way, is causing them to increase their academic, neurological and physical development.We install amazing learning programs on every computer. We are consulting with a number of preschool and day care programs to improve their developmental outcomes.
The long-term effect of our Turning the Tide project will over the next 10 to 15 years begin to be a model for 1 Working with children and families in poverty to transform their lives. 2 by training thousands of kids in the importance of making a difference 3 By giving retired folks an opportunity to continue to be active and also make a difference. 4 Significantly increase high school graduation rates, as well as college enrollment, hopefully ending the cycle of poverty in the brai
