Dear friend,
Today marks one month since the first of many devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria. At least 50,000 people have lost their lives while at least 5.5 million people have been displaced - numbers are increasing daily. Freezing weather, snowstorms, power outages, water supply service interruption, and significant public infrastructure damage continue to threaten recovery while reducing access to essential services.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is supporting emergency response activities while scaling-up local recovery efforts. IOM has released critical emergency supplies to help those affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria and is working to assess the needs on the ground and secure additional resources. IOM's teams are coordinating with Governments and partners to respond to the needs of those affected and will deliver urgent relief items, including shelter, winter clothing, mobile heaters, and blankets to the earthquake survivors.
Your support allows us to continue this life-saving work. Additional funds will be crucial to carry out IOM's emergency disaster response and to help provide long-term relief for survivors.
With gratitude,
Maria Moreno
CEO, USA for IOM
