Disaster Aid USA is working in close contact with Rotarians on the ground through our sister Org. Disaster Aid Europe. They are assessing the area and requesting shelter, blankets, generators, and other emergency supplies. We are in contact with our suppliers, and their warehouses and have located tents already in Turkey, we just need donors and funds to keep the supply lines open.
Rescuers in Turkey and Syria were desperately combing through rubble in search of survivors in near-freezing temperatures after a powerful earthquake and aftershocks collapsed thousands of buildings, killed more than 3,800 people and raised the specter of a new humanitarian disaster in an area of the world already racked by war, a refugee crisis and deep economic troubles. The initial magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit at 4:17 a.m. local time on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey
Disaster Aid USA (DAUSA) is working with Disaster Aid Europe (DAE) along with local Rotarians to bring in , emergency tents, blankets, generators, water filters and solar lights to the affected areas and the survivors, Shelter from the cold, power clean water and warm blankets are needed asap and we have locate supplies nearby so a quick response can happen. DAUSA has it own specially designed tent it may be sending over from the states but we can purchase local refugee tents faster!
The effects will be long term and people will be displaced indefinitely. We can help provide them with warm shelter, solar lights (that also charge cell phones), and clean water. Portable generators will help the community get temporary power back on until infrastructure can be rebuilt.
