A key renovation & humanization of pediatric hemato-oncologic Unit in hopital Trousseau, Paris. This unit has to be completely rebuilt and rethought. Laurette Fugain has been a key partner of this unit since years, and wants to contribute to the huge support needed to make a news, clear, cosy place for these severe ill children.
These Children experience "extreme conditions" during their hospital stay: Separation from home/ Prolonged stay (several weeks)/ Draconian antimicrobial isolation in a room /Accommodation reduced to functionality (cramped, lighting, lack of comfort)/ Life under constant threat (unthinkable at this age). These rooms fully provide the required antimicrobial protection. However hospital stays in such extreme conditions are very painful, and even experienced as "carceral", for children and families.
Project is meant to completely rethink the Protected Unit in order to ensure same level of antimicrobial protection while "letting life in": Room of sufficient size/ Health equipment/ Natural lighting/ Possibility of access to a room to play or relax. This project has been designed along with children and families, with the commitment of the hospital and of health care staff.
In addition to improving comfort during their stay, the object to give them the opportunity to recharge their batteries, develop their autonomy and think about their future.
