In 2019, Tripoli Film Festival achieved its 6th edition as an international film festival, and for the 4th time in a row, the Forum for professionals was organized as a serious attempt to broaden the network of filmmaking and networking in Lebanon. Since 2016, many Lebanese films were supported through the TFF Forum. Since its 1st edition, TFF organized outdoor screenings in rural and devastated areas of Tripoli.
During the preparation for the seventh edition of the Tripoli Film Festival, we faced many challenges, most notably the stifling economic crisis and its dangerous social impact that Lebanon is going through. So measures were taken; invitations were reduced and this had affected positively our transportation and accommodation expenses. But with the expansion of the COVID 19 pandemic, and after postponing the 2020 session, we noticed a significant decline in financial support and sponsorship.
The money collected through this crowdfunding campaign will help us implement the COVID 19 protection measures during the festival by distributing free masks, sanitizers and implementing protection marking on the festival' venues and sites. It will cover also part of the festival' advertising campaign and printing matters.
Insuring continuity during this financial and sanitary crisis is very important on moral and cultural levels, as priorities are going to other fields. Getting back to normal life with protection measures is very healthy during these critical times that Tripoli is passing through.
