This project runs a Children's Centre in Dnipro (Ukraine), supporting war affected children in closing education gaps and addressing trauma. The centre will create a safe space for children to play, act and dance. Help these children heal, learn and build a future.
Millions of people in Ukraine suffer from the impacts of Russia's war. Over 5 million children are affected, many of them are facing educational gaps and mental health issues. A particular challenge is that many schools schools remain closed, leading to 2/3 of children attending school exclusively or partially online. As a consequence, children and their parents lack access to social spaces, which are essential for combating isolation.
The Children's Centre addresses the education gaps and mental health issues of war affected children in Ukraine. The project provides trauma-sensitive psychosocial support. It also supports children's learning through in-person classes and extracurricular activities to enhance literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. We also aim to create supportive social spaces for children and their parents to combat social isolation and facilitate trauma recovery.
The Children' Centre is not only about solving current problems, but also about investing in the future. Providing educational opportunities and trauma relief for children today can help create a resilient and educated generation that will be able to actively participate in post-conflict recovery.
