Thank you all for your contribution to making the Hogarcito San Ramon Transportation Project a success. Your donations joined with others in the San Ramon area made the Hogarcito's dream come true. The $3,560 raised through GlobalGiving inspired additional community giving and a matching donation. Together, these enabled us to reach our goal of $12,000. With funding in hand, the Hogarcito is in the process of finding exactly the right vehicle. Without your donation and the GlobalGiving website visibility, the children of Hogarcito San Ramon would have continued walking 90 minutes a day to/from school and one Tia each day would have spent her time away from the orphanage. Problem solved and project closed! Thank you from the Community Action Alliance and the Hogarcito for making a huge difference to these children..
Thank You! You Are Making a Difference!
Hogarcito San Ramon Orphanage Transportation Project is nearly half-way to goal! Together, twenty-four CAA members and their family, friends, and associates donated $2,460 through GlobalGiving and another $280 directly to the Hogaricto from San Ramon from locals. To add incentive, one CAA couple announced a 1:1 match to all donations up to $5,000! With the match, project donations now total $5,480!
The rainy season has started once again and the children are facing afternoon deluges as they travel between the orphanage and school. Anyone who has experienced San Ramon's fierce lightning, bowling ball thunder, and torrential downpours can't help but have a healthy respect for children under 12 walking 90 minutes round trip to school. Keep in mind that the orphanage relies on donations to cover any transportation costs for these students - or for medical appointments.
What's more, PANI (Patronato Nacional de la Infancia) recently cut back funding for Hogarcito Tias (caregivers), which makes it even more important that a vehicle is acquired. Remember, the law requires a Tia to accompany a child walking to school. And with the school schedules staggered by grade, only one or two children are escorted at a time. Consequently, the children are robbed of a valuable care giver for many hours each day. With the purchase of a vehicle, the Tia's time will be used where it's really needed.
All to say, please continue sharing the project link http://goto.gg/20057 with family, friends, and associates. The Hogarcito needs your help!
As the first quarter of the Hogarcito fundraising project draws to a close, CAA would like to acknowledge the significant contribution by CA members Jim and Linda Beasley. In the span of six months, they have made a great impact in our community by volunteering their time and money for the benefit of the children of the Hogarcito. It is their infectious enthusiasm and outreach that initiated this project, and that has engaged many members of our community to help the orphanage. Thank you Jim and Linda!
