Dear Supporters and Friends,
It has been about two months since our successful completion of the Global Giving open challenge in which we raised over $7000 to help transport sick Palestinian children from Gaza to Israeli hospitals for critical medical treatment. Our success in the Open Challenge also helped us secure a permanent spot on the Global Giving web site. Consequently, international awareness of The Road to Recovery’s fund-raising effort is enhanced, and our cause is more attractive to US donors because donations via Global Giving are tax deductible.
Our goal for the Challenge was to raise funds that would allow us to double our weekly chartered minibus service from Gaza, from one trip per week to at least two trips per week for a period of one year. Indeed, your donation already began to make its mark: in the first two months after the campaign ended, July and August 2015,we were able to double the number of minibus trips we provided for Palestinian patients to 18 from only 9 trips in May and June 2015. In these trips, Palestinian patients were transported from Gaza to three hospitals in Jerusalem: Augusta Victoria, Al-Makassed, and St. Joseph. Each of these trips typically involved seven child patient passengers and seven guardians or escorts. The total number of patients assisted in this initial period was 85. This is only the beginning; your donation will help us continue this important mission during the year.
Thank you for underwriting this humanitarian assistance to Palestinian patients, and for your charitable support of our efforts to promote dialogue and constructive interaction on a personal level between Israelis and Palestinians.
Sincerely,
Yuval Roth and The Road to Recovery US volunteer team
