Champions of the Peace (CAPAZ) is a program of the organization Transformacion Social - TRASO. Since 2015, we have been working with the community of one of the must violent neiborhood in Mexico City, Tacubaya. Our objetive is to Combat Violence, to Empower Children and to Strength Families. We use BOX as primary tool to prevent that children are enlisted by crime or drug trafficking, and combines it providing emotional tools and values skills.
The children of Tacubaya faces everyday Violence: bullying, domestic violence, street violence, cyber violence... Alcoholism and drugs are very familiar for them. Must of them study in a public school, so they do not receive good education. Their parents are exceeded by their jobs, parenting and debts.
We use sport, specifically BOX, to empower the children, that means that the children uses this combat sport as energy catalyst, is a tool to manage emotions and a tool for learning personal and social values. We stregthen box training with the group psychological therapy and the values workshop, also we have a Parent School. If we want in long term real empower children, they need strong ties that only can came from their family.
The kids get empowered to manage in the present the difficult situations they could live like bullying, domestic violence, cyber violence, enrollment to crime or narcotraffic, and in the future to be strong emotional adults. By training box the children win selfcontrol, selfconfidence, limits, healthy habits, to avoid violence and take better decisions, they learn not only to be a champion on the ring but a Champion of Life.
