This project will help to provide meaningful out-of-school time opportunities for students to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). These hands-on, real-world projects engage young minds, making STEAM subjects accessible and exciting, while fostering critical thinking and creativity. Join us in empowering youth to achieve their full potential, sparking a passion for learning, and building the next generation of innovators and leaders.
The children and youth of Fort Worth's low socioeconomic, minority demographic, and urban areas have limited resources, including up-to-date textbooks, lab equipment, and extracurricular STEAM programs. There is often a lack of visible role models in STEAM fields who come from similar backgrounds, which makes it harder for these students to envision themselves in such careers.
Camp Fire First Texas' After-school/out-of-school program with a STEAM-based curriculum can effectively help students in Fort Worth's low socioeconomic, minority demographic, urban areas understand the importance of STEAM fields, develop an interest and aptitude for these subjects, and envision themselves pursuing careers in these areas.
Enhanced engagement with STEAM subjects can lead to better grades and higher test scores in science, math, and related areas. Students who develop a strong interest in STEAM are more likely to stay in school and graduate, motivated by the desire to pursue higher education and careers in these fields. Exposure to and understanding of STEAM careers can lead more students to pursue degrees and careers in these fields, addressing workforce needs in technology, engineering, science, and arts.
