Transform the lives of 3200 children in Hyderabad

Students are at the core of our heart at Teach For India and we all our team works tirelessly to provide them the best education that we can. 

We put tremendous effort in shaping the lives of our students and our achievements have been phenomenal from time to time. It gives us immense joy to share with you Huda’s incredible transformation at Teach For India classes. Coming straight from her teacher (fellow at Teach for India). 

Huda  is an 11 year old student of Grade 7. Two years ago, you would find her confused, under-confident and unaware of the potential she had, sitting in the middle of class with a question mark on her face. Today, she has grown into a woman who has discovered her passion and used it for the betterment of the world around her with grace and impeccable zest.  This is Huda’s Story. The Teacher For India fellow here is Aishwarya who has been a major inspiration to Huda making her realise her wings to fly with dreams.

Huda has been a student with Teach For India for 5 years now. One day there was a discussion on ‘Inspiring Women’- Huda stood up and said ‘I want to become like you, Didi, I want to become a teacher’. The Teach For India fellow believed it was in that singular moment, when she said it out loud, that she realised what she wanted to work for. Huda started teaching childrenin her community from different schools, where the quality of education is poor. She made lesson plans every day and got it reviewed by the fellow for feedback. Student trackers were made, charts were put up, worksheets were created, all in the little hall of her home. All this, on her own. She says, ‘I want to become a confident teacher. I need to start now. I love Students even though I myself am one. I love that I can change people by teaching’.

The fellow was touched and proud of her initiative and gifted her a white board for her classes at home. The fellow had also observed her lessons and left feeling inspired with her enthusiasm towards teaching. Every day she would come back from school by 5:00 pm and teach till 8:00 pm, complete her homework and study for the next day’s class. Huda is very aware of her strengths and areas of development and continuously works towards bettering herself. She even made a tracker to manage her short-temper well! This had a ripple effect in class and other students followed her footsteps – sparks of leadership were ignited in the classroom.
