You can help transform the lives of at-risk, vulnerable boys by supporting UFM (Un Futuro Mejor - A Better Future) . This innovative program in Mazatlan, Mexico provides marginalized children a stable, nurturing environment; and a quality education. UFM supports their children from middle school through university or technical training. UFM equips the boys to break free from poverty and provides them tools to increase their employability, social mobility, and competency in critical life skills.
The boys served by UFM (Un Futuro Mejor) are typically orphans or come from families who cannot afford to raise them. Many boys must work to help support their families. This puts them at acute risk of quitting school long before obtaining a high school diploma. As a result, they will have no choice but to take low-paying, menial jobs and continue the cycle of poverty into which they were born. We hope to help them break free of that cycle to live productive, happy and prosperous lives.
Through UFM, the boys are developing the academic and organizational skills, integrity, perseverance, and adaptability required to not only graduate from high school, but to continue on through higher education to become productive members of their communities. UFM is creating a critical mass of educated young people who are transforming not only their own futures, but the lives of their families and their communities. Help us continue this life-changing endeavor!
The young men at UFM are receiving the support they need to thrive and move on to productive, meaningful careers. They are shattering the grip of poverty that would have continued to bind them and their families had they not received the care and services provided by UFM. They are developing the skills and adaptability required to complete their education and become productive members of their communities. They will be able to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and future generations.
