Report: July through September 2016
Dear GlobalGiving supporters,
Today we would like to tell you a little bit about how your financial support is making possible the education of an indigenous girl.
Aline lives in the Pitaguary indigenous village of Monguba in the city of Pacatuba in the Brazilian state of Ceará, which is about an hour outside of Fortaleza, where the Mental Health Movement of Bom Jardim is headquartered. She is 15 (although she looks much younger!) and is enrolled in the eighth grade at the Indigenous School of Itaara. She is a beneficiary of the Indigenous Youth Achieving Their Dreams project that you support!
As a beneficiary, Aline receives school supplies, her uniform including shoes, and snacks – essentials that her family can’t afford. Both of Aline’s parents are currently unemployed and Aline thanks the Movement and all of you for making her studies possible and for keeping her motivated during these tough times. Your support allows Aline to focus on school and she is doing really well, including in her favorite subject, math. Through the Movement, she is also connected to her indigenous heritage, of which she is very proud. In fact, Aline is the granddaughter of the indigenous leader of her village.
So thank you for your support of Aline’s dreams.
Until next time,
Mitakuye Oyasin
