Devasmitha, the beloved daughter of Madhumitha, entered the world carrying a challenge no child should have to bear—hemiplegia, a condition that weakened the right side of her body. Each day was a quiet battle: walking on her toes, struggling to keep balance, and facing the uncertainty of what the future might hold. Her mother, filled with both worry and determination, sought help at the Government Hospital in Chennai. There, specialists diagnosed her condition and guided her to us.
At Sukriti, Devasmitha’s journey transformed from struggle to possibility. With the support of an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) and continuous physiotherapy at our Baby Cure Centre, her steps grew stronger, her movements steadier. But beyond medical care, what truly healed her was the love, encouragement, and gentle nurturing she received. Slowly, the sparkle returned to her eyes. Her laughter rang brighter, her confidence blossomed, and her world began to open up.
Like all mothers, Madhumita also wanted her daughter to go to school. She managed to put Devasmita in one of the best schools in the city. On the very first day of school, Devasmita won the first prize in running race!
During a feedback session, when we asked Madhumitha what further support, she expected from us, she expressed through happy tears: “The change you have brought in my daughter is more than I ever imagined. I am deeply grateful to Sukriti and I wish Sukriti continues to help many more children in the years to come.”
Since 2022, Devasmitha has walked alongside us—not just with her feet, but with her spirit. Today, she moves forward with strength, courage, and hope, reminding us all that with compassion and care, even the most fragile beginnings can grow into stories of resilience and light.
At Sukriti, we are treating 50 more children like Devasmita and we hope to see the same in all the children
