Strenghtening community against natural disasters and climate change.

By Victor Mendoza | Sustainability Leader

Hello again dear donors

This was a year full of learning for us in the projects that we are implementing in the community of San Pablo Hidalgo. As part of this process we have promoted the strengthening of a group of local producers trained in construction and monitoring of wood-saving stoves.

We also work on linking up some inhabitants of the vulnerable area wich have no access to drinkable water to generate training on rain-harvesting in order to build collectively the first demonstration system of rain-harvesting in the area, so we could ensure availability of water against another natural disaster or climate change.

The actions of the following months will be focused on:

  • Sign a community agreement for collective water management.
  • Generate the first community training that seeks to raise awareness of the population in rain harvesting, purification and waste management.
  • Promote cooperativism so that activities are self-managed and economically  sustainable in the medium term.
  • Promote inclusion through the promotion of human rights in our activities.
  • Generation of a collective documentary for the divulgation of the problem outside the community and the generation of audiovisual material to contribute to the training of children in the community.

We will keep you informed of the results achieved with the community of San Pablo Hidalgo through the videos that will be included in the following reports for the Global Giving community.

Thank you very much for your support!
